Lancers Loud and Proud Parent/Guardian Newsletter: March Edition
Dear Norton High Families,
The month of March was an extremely busy and exciting one at Norton High School! We kicked off the month with the Drama Club's production of "Freaky Friday," where the cast and crew put on an absolutely awesome performance that was truly a showcase of talent. We then had our Mr. NHS competition, where twenty contestants vied for the crown in front of a sold-out crowd. Senior Jarrett Robbins ultimately took home the title in what was a hugely successful evening! We are also incredibly proud of our DECA students, who competed at DECA States this past month and delivered a truly record-breaking performance! Out of approximately 4,000 students competing, 21 NHS students finished in the top 12 in their respective categories, and 18 of those students have qualified for the ICDC competition in Atlanta which takes place in April, nearly doubling the number of NHS qualifiers from previous years. An extraordinary achievement that speaks to the dedication and talent of our students and their advisors! This month we also conducted our first Lockdown Drill, which was a great success, and we want to extend a sincere thank you to the Norton Police Department and our SRO Sgt. Dennett for their assistance in making that drill as effective as possible. We celebrated Pi Day thanks to the Math Honor Society, who organized a fun and memorable event including a few staff members who had the privilege of taking a pie to the face. We hosted the Norton Community STEAM Showcase which was a huge success and none of this would have happened without NHS Teacher Ms. Murphy who organized this very engaging event. This past week, our Grade 10 students took the ELA MCAS and we are incredibly proud of their effort!. As we look ahead, please note that the end of Term 3 is on April 8th. Our Spring Sports season is officially underway, and the school year continues to fly by. As always, thank you for your continued support of Norton High School. We are so proud of everything our students and staff continue to accomplish!
